I had to touch today on the story of Ted Williams, which I'm sure most of you might have seen or heard by now. He's the homeless man discovered by a reporter from the Columbus Times Dispatch in Ohio for his "golden voice" who has quickly become an internet & television sensation. After the reporter posted a video Monday to YouTube, of Williams doing his radio voice to earn his donation, he quickly shot to fame for his heart-warming story, now gaining attention and job offers from the likes of KRAFT Macaroni & Cheese to do the voice for a Fight Hunger ad campaign, the Cleveland Cavaliers, and many others. Here's the video of his interview this morning on the Today Show - it's a must see!
Everyone loves a 2nd chance and Ted Williams makes it easy to root for him. He is extremely likable, seemingly very genuine, and very grateful. You can't help but want things to work out for him. I think it's a wonderful story and truly hope he stays straight and manages to avoid the evils of drugs & alcohol that brought him down earlier in life. While it's commendable that the Today Show offered the services of a counselor/psychologist to deal with his new-found fame, and it's a dream come true for anyone, gaining fame so quickly and having so many people offering opportunities of a lifetime, people pulling at you in so many directions can't be easy. Though he says he plans to take advantage of every opportunity coming his way this time and has no intention of blowing it, prayers & fingers crossed to a 2nd chance for Ted Williams! He's rumored to be on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon tonight...check him out!
PS - does anyone else think he looks a little like Obama?
